Shivneri Fort, the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, saw grand celebrations as the state celebrated Shiv Janmotsav with devotion and excitement.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, took part in the ceremonial ‘pālna’ (cradle) ritual, symbolically rocking the cradle of Bal Shivaji in a gesture of respect.
The historic fort, honored as a sacred place for millions in Maharashtra, echoed with chants of “Jai Bhavani, Jai Shivaji.” The atmosphere became spiritual as traditional lullabies for Bal Shivaji were sung, recalling the legacy of Rajmata Jijau and her vision that influenced the great Maratha warrior king.
The ceremony combined tradition, faith, and state honor, as dignitaries paid homage to the lasting ideals of bravery, self-governance, and leadership linked to Shivaji Maharaj.
The event reaffirmed Shivneri’s significance not only as a historic site but also as a representation of Maharashtra’s cultural pride and identity.
